Another group of yarraReporter cadets graduate! - 20/08/2010

Infoxchange Australia is extremely pleased to announce the graduation of the latest yarraReporter cadets. The cadets completed their training with an interview with Jane Garret, Mayor of the City of Yarra at the Richmond Town Hall, and then were presented their certificates by The Mayor, Infoxchange Australia CEO, Andrew Mahar and the yarraReporter trainers. The ceremony was followed by morning tea in the Mayor's chambers at the Town Hall, and a yarraReporter editorial meeting with the newly graduated cadets.

Federal MPs ignore digital inclusion in election campaigns - 20/08/2010

Infoxchange is committed to making information and communications technology more  available to all Australians – including low income earners. We have been disappointed digital inclusion has not been an issue in the federal election campaign. And so we decided to send a survey to each member of Federal Parliament, in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

More than one in four use Internet worldwide, says ITU - 11/08/2010

John Ribeiro writes about the percentage of internet users worldwide, and the digital divide:

"Over 80 percent of people in developing countries still do not have access to the Internet, let alone through broadband access, said Susan Teltscher, head of the bureau's market information and statistics division.

In the developed world, almost 60 per cent of households had Internet access, compared to only 12 per cent in the developing world, according to the report."

 

One laptop per child target for East Africa and the Middle East - 10/08/2010

writes for the BBC about a partnership between OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) and the East African Community to deliver 30 million laptops the East Africa and the Middle East by 2015.
