Parent Connect

Parent Connect aims to reduce disadvantage within the community at Glen Orden Primary School in Heathdale, located in Melbourne's outer western suburbs. The main goal of Parent Connect is to provide the parents of school students with access to services and opportunities through the use of technology.

Parent Connect has sought to:

• Improve connections and social networks among the families involved in the school, building a greater sense of community.
• Provide access to ICT for those normally excluded from its benefits, and to increase skills and educational opportunities for these families.
• Provide employment-oriented computer training for parents of children at the school, with a particular focus on single parents wishing to return to the workforce.
• Establish links with local businesses that may benefit from a skilled local workforce.

Infoxchange partnered with Glen Orden Primary School, Education Foundation, CREATE (Geelong) Inc. and Heathdale Neighbourhood Renewal to connect more than 100 families.
